Privacy Policy and Collection Notice

Last updated: 7 July 2026, Business Benchmark for Landscapers

Pulse Signal Pty Ltd (ABN 20 697 556 531) (“Pulse”, “we”, “us”) operates the Business Benchmark for Landscapers (the “Benchmark”), offered to members of participating landscaping associations. This policy explains how we handle your information. It reflects our obligations under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

What we collect

When you take part, you connect your Xero accounting software and give us read-only access. From Xero we collect business accounting information, which may include:

We also hold a secure access token for the read-only Xero connection, and basic technical information needed to run the service. We do not collect your bank login details, and we cannot move money or change anything in your accounting file.

How we collect it

We collect most of this information indirectly, by reading your Xero file through the connection you authorise, rather than asking you for it directly. We collect it only with your consent, which you give when you connect, and you can withdraw that consent at any time by disconnecting in your Xero settings.

We hold your data pseudonymously

For pilot members, we record your information under a code, not your business name or ABN. Your individual results are private to you.

Why we use it

We use your information to produce your private benchmark report, to build anonymous combined benchmarks across participating landscapers, and to maintain and improve the analysis. We do not use it for any other purpose without your consent.

How your data is pooled into benchmarks

To build the peer benchmarks, your figures are de-identified and combined with other landscapers’. A benchmark for a peer group is only shown once at least five participants are in that group, so no single member can be identified from an aggregate. Neither Pulse nor your association will attempt to re-identify any member from the pooled data. We do not sell your information, or the aggregated benchmarks, to anyone. Once your data has been combined into a past benchmark, that de-identified contribution cannot be withdrawn.

Who we share it with

Where your data is stored

Your information is stored in Australian data centres, and we do not disclose your personal information overseas.

Storage and security

Your information is encrypted in transit and at rest, held in Australian data centres, and access is restricted to authorised personnel on a least-privilege basis.

How long we keep it

We retain your information while you take part. If you disconnect, or the pilot ends for you, we stop accessing your Xero data and remove the connection and access token. When information is no longer needed for the purposes in this policy, we destroy it or de-identify it. De-identified information already used in the anonymous benchmark may be retained as anonymous benchmark data, which no longer identifies you or your business.

Cookies and analytics

This page sets no tracking cookies and runs no analytics; it loads standard web fonts and chart libraries only.

Automated decisions

Your benchmark is a descriptive analysis of your own figures and an anonymous comparison to peers. We do not make automated decisions that have a legal or similarly significant effect on you.

Your rights

You can ask us to access or correct the information we hold about you, or to delete it, and you can disconnect at any time from your Xero settings. To make a request or a privacy complaint, contact us at privacy@pulsesignal.com.au. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).

A note when you connect

When you connect Xero, you will also see a short collection notice summarising what we collect, why, that your figures will be pooled in de-identified form, and that you can disconnect at any time. That notice and this policy work together.

Data breaches

We comply with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme. Where a data breach is likely to result in serious harm, we will assess it and notify affected members and the Commissioner as required by law.

Not financial advice

Your benchmark report is general information based on your own figures and an anonymous comparison to other landscapers. It is not financial, tax, accounting or business advice.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. If we make a material change to the pilot or to how we handle your data, we will give at least 30 days’ notice.
